UConn Women’s Hockey (12-16-2, 8-7-2) v. No. 9 Providence College (17-11-1, 8-8-1)
4:14 p.m. We are underway here at the ‘Rent. The Huskies are looking to avenge an overtime loss at the hands of PC last night and regain possession of third place in Women’s Hockey East.
4:24 p.m. PC strikes first. Jennifer Friedman finds the back of the net via an assist from Kate Bacon to give the Friars a 1-0 advantage at the 8:56 mark.
4:39 p.m. First period comes to an end, PC clinging to a 1-0 lead.
4:59 p.m. Providence doubles their lead with a goal from Ashley Cottrell. 17:17 remaining in the second period, Huskies find themselves down 2-0.
5:00 p.m. UConn answers back with a one timer. The beautiful cross made by Taylor Gross was finished by Maude Blain to cut the deficit to 2-1.
5:09 p.m. Huskies tie the game at 2-2 with a goal by Jenny Saxon. The goal was scored at 9:40.
5:19 p.m. Laura Veharanta puts PC back on top with a wraparound goal at 15:33. 3-2 Friars.
5:21 p.m. Veharanta scores again and PC extends their lead to 4-2.
5:24 p.m. Second period comes to an end. The Huskies battle back to tie the game with two goals in the period but blinked and found themselves down by a pair once again. With twenty minutes to play in regulation, the Friars lead 4-2.
5:48 p.m. UConn power play goal by Kelly Horan on another from Gross cuts the deficit to one, PC leads 4-3.
6:16 Providence College holds off late surge by UConn. Final Score: PC 4, UConn 3.
